The first thing is not to worry, although we do need your measurements to be as accurate as possible to enable us to give you a quotation once you have decided to go ahead our surveyor can be instructed to make a site visit to check your measurements. All measurements need to be in millimetres.
Start by measuring your floor to floor height including the upstairs board thickness (the measurement from finished floor surface to finished floor surface, this is not your floor to ceiling height)
Measure the width of the stair between the stringers
Something similar to this illustration could be used to show width and floor height only
Gates and Railings – How to measure for double or single gates.
Measuring the width of your Metal Drive Gate or Single Drive Gate
Measure that gap between the wall/brick pillar/posts at the top and the bottom.
We will calculate the size of the gate you will require taking into account hinges and the latch. All measurements should be in millimetres.
Measuring the height of your Drive Gates or Single Metal Gates
We offer a wide range of different heights across our ranges to that you can choose a solution that suits you and is aesthetically pleasing.
Please allow 5cm ground clearance for all metal gates and railings this will mean that when the gate is hung it will be at the correct height.
Most people prefer for their gate not to rise above the top of any capstone, with exception to arch top gates that may rise above in the centre of the gate. If you are ordering an arched top gate the height of the gate is taken from the start of the arch and not the middle.
Measuring the width of your Metal Railings
If your new railings are going to be one straight run, simply measure the whole length in millimetres from inside the posts. If you are looking for several shorter runs please measure each section between the posts.
If you would like to have a corner post please measure this as two lengths.
Measuring for your Balcony
For a Reveal Fix the measurement needed is the gap where your balcony is going to be place e.g. brick to brick and the height you would like your balcony
For a Face fix allow at least 100mm either side of the gap and the height you would like your balcony
For a Balcony with a Platform measure the width you would like, the length and the height.
